Of course, it’s very difficult to always stay motivated or have enough discipline to make exercise a priority. So, here’s what the members with the most recorded exercise minutes in my challenge have to say about how they’re exercising and staying motivated…
Hello Everyone!
Congratulations! We’ve just completed the first month of my challenge. It may have been a long, hard road getting started, but now that you’ve kick-started yourself into an exercise routine, you probably feel more energized, productive and self-confident. Not to forget, healthier too!
Of course, it’s very difficult to always stay motivated or have enough discipline to make exercise a priority. So, here’s what the members with the most recorded exercise minutes in my challenge have to say about how they’re exercising and staying motivated…
I woke up one day and realized I needed to change the way I was living. I knew I needed to be healthier and exercise more so I just decided to do it. I joined a gym about four months ago and I exercise everyday for about an hour. I recently started lifting weights, which has really helped me to notice the general changes in my body, but I’ve had the most success with interval training on the elliptical machine and stationary bike. It helps that my husband encourages me to go to the gym and eat healthier.

I’ve been doing Jazzercise three to four days a week for years – since the 80s. But, in the last few months, I decided to step up the plan and lose 12 pounds in 12 weeks. Nurse Teri’s Fitness Challenge has been additional incentive and motivation to reach that goal. I joined a local health club and added cycling classes to my routine. I even had a couple of sessions with a personal trainer. So far, I’ve lost 10 pounds! I think the trick is to change up your workouts - choosing a different workout class, instructor or time that you exercise can make a big difference, and making sure you’re doing something that you enjoy.

I go to the gym everyday and seeing results is what keeps me going back.

I have a couple of kids, ages 11 and 16, and they constantly want me to participate in activities with them. When I realized I couldn’t keep up, I decided I needed to get into healthier shape. I do a lot of stretching as well as walking on a treadmill. We have a hiking trail that I like to walk with my girls when the weather is nice. There are times when I feel lazy and don’t want to exercise, but I know if I get out of routine, one or two days of not exercising can quickly turn into one or two weeks. I just do something little everyday to keep me motivated and moving. Plus, my kids tell me I have to keep exercising so I can win that Wii!

Until next week, keep moving. I know I will!
