U.S. Preventive Medicine® Among First in the Nation to Earn NCQA Accreditation for Wellness and Health Promotion Programs

U.S. Preventive Medicine, Inc., the leading provider of health management programs based on the science of clinical preventive medicine, earned Wellness and Health Promotion (WHP) Accreditation from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA).  NCQA WHP Accreditation is a nationally-recognized performance evaluation that purchasers and consumers can use to assess wellness and health promotion programs.

U.S. Preventive Medicine is one of the first 16 companies in the nation to earn the new accreditation, which comprehensively evaluates key areas of health promotion, including how wellness programs are implemented in the workplace, how services such as health coaching are provided to help individuals develop skills to make healthy choices and how sensitive health information of eligible individuals is properly safeguarded.

The standards are intended to help organizations achieve the highest level of performance possible, increase healthy behavior change in eligible individuals and create an environment of continuous improvement.  Accredited status is granted to those wellness and health promotion organizations that have excellent programs for the delivery and improvement of wellness and health promotion programs that meet or exceed NCQA's rigorous standards.

"Clinically-based preventive medicine has astounding potential to improve outcomes and reduce health care costs in the United States.  To realize this goal, however, our industry must demonstrate high performance standards based on clinical data and objective cost-benefit analysis.  NCQA WHP accreditation follows an evidence-based set of requirements, holding our industry to the highest standards.  The team at U.S. Preventive Medicine is pleased to be an early adopter of this rigorous evaluation," said Christopher T. Fey, chairman and CEO of U.S. Preventive Medicine, Inc.
