Grant from U.S. Preventive Medicine Funds Online Health and Productivity Toolkit for ACOEM
U.S. employers can now learn how to get a better return on investment for dollars spent on prevention and wellness programs, thanks to a new toolkit partially underwritten by U.S. Preventive Medicine, the leader in prevention.
The American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM) recently launched the Health and Productivity Toolkit, an educational website designed to promote the principles of Health and Productivity Management (HPM) in workplaces around the world. The Toolkit was made possible in part by an unrestricted educational grant from U.S. Preventive Medicine, which plans to use the Toolkit to help employer clients that are enrolling in The Prevention Plan, its new, groundbreaking personalized wellness program.
“As more corporations and individuals embrace prevention and wellness programs, the need for comprehensive, yet easy-to-understand information on these programs has never been greater,” said Christopher T. Fey, Chairman and CEO of U.S. Preventive Medicine. “The toolkit is exactly what the business and medical community needs to make prevention and wellness an integral part of everyone’s daily lives. We are very pleased to provide financial and other support to help meet that goal.”
The Toolkit provides step-by-step audio tutorials, video, charts, graphs, checklists and other resources teaching the basics of HPM – a concept built on the idea that health and productivity are closely linked, are measurable, and can be influenced through programs that improve employee health and business performance. HPM advocates believe that employers can achieve a positive return-on-investment (ROI) for dollars spent in wisely managing employee health risks, chronic illnesses and disability. It is designed for physicians, nurses, health resource and health benefits professionals, insurers, employers and others who deal with health and wellness issues in the workplace.
“ACOEM'S mission is to promote healthier, more productive workplaces, and the HPM Toolkit offers practical advice and resources to help achieve this goal,” said ACOEM President Robert R. Orford, MD. “It is by far the most comprehensive collection of educational material on the topic of HPM available anywhere today.”
The American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM) represents more than 5,000 physicians specializing in occupational and environmental medicine. Founded in 1916, ACOEM is the nation’s largest medical society dedicated to promoting the health of workers through preventive medicine, clinical care, disability management, research and education.
